easyJet to Fit Starlink Wi-Fi Across Its A320-Family Fleet
The airline will start installing Starlink from the first half of 2027 and expects to finish by early 2028, offering onboard internet for the first time.
easyJet will offer onboard Wi-Fi for the first time, using Starlink satellite internet, the airline announced. Installation begins in the first half of 2027 on its Airbus A320, A320neo and A321neo aircraft and is expected to finish by early 2028.
Passengers will be able to stream, game and browse through Starlink's low-Earth-orbit satellite network. The connection will also support flight updates, destination information and potentially onboard food ordering. easyJet has not yet confirmed whether access will be free or paid.
The announcement
"Bringing Starlink's high-speed internet connectivity onboard for the first time will not only enhance the experience we provide millions of customers, but means we are offering more of the options both business and leisure travelers want when they choose who they fly with," said CEO Kenton Jarvis.
The rollout will cover over 300 aircraft and reach around 100 million annual passengers. The older A319 fleet, due to be fully retired by 2029, is not included.
A change of course
Earlier this year easyJet had ruled out Starlink, saying the economics did not justify installation on relatively short European flights. The announcement comes as a £5.7 billion takeover of the airline by Apollo is progressing.
In-flight internet is still uncommon among European low-cost carriers. According to CAPA, only 21% of short- and medium-haul jets in Europe offered any form of internet access in January 2026. Wizz Air is also pursuing Starlink and Vueling already offers connectivity through Viasat, while Ryanair remains the most prominent holdout; its CEO Michael O'Leary argues that installation and extra fuel costs outweigh passenger demand.
