Marriott Brings City Express Brand to India With Udaipur Hotel

Travel ·

A 56-room hotel on the Udaipur–Nathdwara Highway in Rajasthan is the first City Express by Marriott property in India and South Asia.

Marriott has opened City Express by Marriott Udaipur Nathdwara Highway, the first hotel under the City Express by Marriott name in India and in South Asia. The midscale brand is aimed at business and leisure guests who put quality, efficiency and simplicity first and want a convenient stay at a reasonable price.

Location and rooms

The property stands on the Udaipur–Nathdwara Highway (NH-58) in Rajasthan. That places it close to Nathdwara, an important pilgrimage town, and makes it a base for trips to Udaipur and the surrounding area. Udaipur's Maharana Pratap Airport is about 35 km away and Udaipur Railway Station about 30 km. Sights that guests can reach from the hotel include the City Palace, the lakes, Eklingji, Delwara and Haldighati. There are 56 rooms. Each has free high-speed Wi-Fi, a work desk, an LED television, a mini refrigerator, an electronic safe and USB charging ports. An all-day restaurant serves a breakfast that mixes local dishes with international ones, and a fitness center has cardio and strength-training equipment.

Why India

Cristiano Rinaldi, Marriott International's chief lodging product and services officer for Asia Pacific excluding China, called India an important growth market for the group and said the new brand widens the range of stays it offers in the country. He added that Marriott intends to expand the brand across the region. General manager Abhishek Jha said the hotel is built around reliable quality, "comfort without complexity" and hospitality, and that opening in Udaipur gives the milestone added meaning.

City Express by Marriott has around 160 properties in seven countries. It is the flagship of a family that also includes City Express Plus, City Express Suites, City Express Junior and City Centro. The Udaipur hotel takes part in Marriott Bonvoy, the group's travel programme, so members can earn and redeem points there. Marriott Bonvoy covers more than 30 hotel brands.
