Aston Martin Takes the Roof Off the Valhalla With a Spider

Automotive ·

Aston Martin has revealed an open-top Valhalla with the same 1,064 hp hybrid drivetrain. Deliveries are planned for the third quarter of 2027.

Aston Martin has unveiled the Valhalla Spider, an open-top version of the mid-engined hybrid supercar that debuted earlier this year. The car makes its public debut this weekend at the Concours at Wynn in Las Vegas.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027. Pricing has not been announced.

Same hybrid power as the coupe

The Spider keeps the coupe's drivetrain. A twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 is paired with three electric motors. Together they produce 1,064 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque, and the power goes to all four wheels.

Aston Martin claims a top speed of 217 mph, the same as the coupe. The car has active aerodynamics and the handling hardware for track use. Its aerodynamics and stability systems have also been adjusted for driving with the roof on and off.

Fabric top or carbon hardtop

Buyers can choose a removable fabric roof or an optional carbon-fiber hardtop. With the fabric roof fitted, the Spider is limited to 124 mph. The hardtop allows the full top speed.

With the roof off, a removable wind deflector keeps the worst of the wind out of the cabin. When the roof goes back on, the deflector folds up and fits into storage compartments built into the car.

It is Aston Martin's first production mid-engined supercar with an open cockpit. The Spider shares the coupe's carbon-fiber structure and its upward-swinging carbon-fiber doors, with small changes to make getting in and out easier. A new carbon-fiber Touring Seat is standard, and buyers can pick the coupe's more aggressive carbon-fiber seat at no extra cost.

Chief executive Adrian Hallmark said the Spider builds on the coupe's mix of everyday usability and track performance, and adds open-air driving. In his words: "High speed or low speed. Rain or shine. Roof on or roof off. Road or track. Valhalla Spider ticks every box."
