Connecticut Quilt Shop Becomes Authorized BERNINA Dealer

Retail ·

Cotton Candy Fabrics & Quilts in Brookfield, Connecticut, has moved up from sub-dealer to authorized BERNINA dealer and will hold a public launch party on October 17.

Cotton Candy Fabrics & Quilts has been named an authorized BERNINA dealer at its shop in Brookfield, Connecticut. Until now the retailer worked with the Swiss sewing machine brand as a sub-dealer and kept BERNINA machines in its classroom for students to use. The new status means a wider choice of machines and accessories on the shop floor, along with classes, servicing and continuing support provided in Brookfield.

Launch party on October 17

The shop will mark the change with an event it calls the BERNINA Super Saturday Launch Party, on Saturday, October 17, between noon and 4 p.m. at 450 Federal Road in Brookfield. It is open to the public. Visitors, whether they already own a BERNINA or are only curious, will be able to look at the newest models, watch demonstrations, collect sewing tips and meet the staff who handle the brand. A BERNINA gift and refreshments are also promised.

Owner Erin Byrne described the dealership as the next step in serving customers better. In her words, "buying a sewing machine is really the beginning of the relationship": the shop wants both first-time buyers and people who have sewn on a BERNINA for decades to come back to learn, get help and meet other makers.

About the two companies

Cotton Candy Fabrics & Quilts has two Connecticut locations, in Brookfield and Simsbury. Besides machines it sells fabrics, notions and patterns, runs classes and special events, and offers longarm quilting services. Both shops carry bernette machines, a line that belongs to the BERNINA family. For three consecutive years the ByAnnie Local Quilt Shop Contest has named it the favorite local quilt shop in Connecticut. BERNINA was founded more than 130 years ago and makes sewing, quilting and embroidery machines, overlockers and embroidery software, sold through over 400 independent dealers and aimed at users from beginners to advanced sewists.
