Picky Global Launches Countertop Receipt Photobooth Campaign
South Korean company Picky Global has opened a Kickstarter campaign for Receipt Photobooth, a countertop booth about 12 inches tall that prints black-and-white photos on thermal receipt paper in about a second.
Picky Global, the South Korean company behind the PICKYPIC compact photobooths, has opened a Kickstarter campaign for a new product called Receipt Photobooth. The device stands about 12 inches tall and prints pictures on ordinary thermal receipt paper in roughly one second. It is intended for cafés, shops, pop-up stores and event venues that have no room for a floor-standing booth, and it can be placed on a counter, a shelf or a table.
A paper print and a digital copy
Once a picture is taken, the booth produces a black-and-white print on receipt paper. One roll is good for about 500 prints, and because the printing is thermal there are no ink cartridges to replace, unlike conventional booths that use dye-sublimation ink. Each print carries a QR code that guests can scan to download the original full-color image to a smartphone. The software ships with 20 frame templates and accepts custom frames built around a logo, artwork or an event theme. Whoever runs the booth can add printed text such as promotions, daily fortunes or event copy, guests can decorate their shots with simple drawings or stickers, and an optional survey can be built into the process to gather customer feedback.
Two models for small spaces
Receipt Photobooth comes in two versions. The acrylic Urban model measures 190 by 230 by 316 mm and is offered in five colors, while the wooden Modern model is 290 by 290 by 310 mm. Each weighs about 5 kg, or 11 lbs. Setting one up takes a power outlet and a Wi-Fi connection. The company gives the start of the global campaign as September 22, 2026, at 9 AM ET; both models are included, and a limited number of launch-day rewards are reserved for early backers.
Picky Global is not new to the market. It has designed, manufactured and operated photobooths in South Korea for three years, and more than 200 PICKYPIC booths are in use in cafés, shops, bars and event spaces around the country. Its products have been exported to 11 markets: Canada, Denmark, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Qatar, Singapore, Taiwan and the United States. For the new booth the company reworked the internal structure, the power system and the software to suit a compact format and use abroad. Chief executive Young Roung Lee said traditional booths oblige a business to give up a considerable amount of floor space, and that the aim was to turn a small, unused spot such as a café counter, a shop shelf or an event table into a place for photos.
