Acqualina Resort Earns Forbes Travel Guide Sustainability Badge Again

Travel ·

The oceanfront Miami resort has again received the VERIFIED Responsible Hospitality badge, its third in a row, after an assessment of environmental and community practices.

Acqualina Resort & Residences, an oceanfront Miami resort, has received the 2026 VERIFIED Responsible Hospitality badge from Forbes Travel Guide. It is the third year in a row the oceanfront resort has earned it.

Responsible Hospitality is the sustainability verification Forbes Travel Guide uses for its Star-Rated hotels in more than 80 countries. The assessment looks at how hotels protect the environment and support the well-being of employees, guests and the community. Topics include food and water waste, sustainable amenities, recycling programs, energy use, health security, and ties to local culture and community. The program was designed with hotelier Hervé Houdré.

What the resort does

Acqualina says it has eliminated single-use plastics and cut paper use. Its restaurants serve locally sourced, seasonal menus. The resort works with the Miami-Dade County Sea Turtle Program on conservation, and team members join regular beach clean-ups along the Miami coastline. Each year it also runs a food drive for the Broward Outreach Center and a toy drive for children at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.

Community work goes back to 1995, when the resort founded the Miami chapter of the I Have a Dream Foundation. The foundation helps children from underprivileged backgrounds build the skills and mindset needed to pursue higher education.

"Earning this distinction for the third consecutive year is a true reflection of our team's dedication to caring for our guests, our residents, our community and the beautiful coastline we call home," said Deborah Yager Fleming, CEO and partner of Acqualina Resort.
